A Day of Unity and Connection

Ormonde Primary School staff took a well-deserved break from their regular routines to participate in an enriching team-building day. Held here at Ormonde, the event brought together teachers, administrative staff, and support personnel for a day focused on collaboration, communication, and camaraderie.

The initiative, organized by our Welfare Committee, aimed to strengthen relationships among staff members and create opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration that will ultimately benefit our learners.

Professional Development Sessions

After lunch, staff participated in workshops focused on:

  • Effective communication strategies
  • Stress management and self-care
  • Collaborative problem-solving
  • Celebrating diversity

These sessions provided valuable tools that staff can immediately apply in their daily work, both in the classroom and in their interactions with colleagues.

Reflections and Appreciations

As the day drew to a close, staff gathered in a circle to share reflections and express appreciation for one another. Many spoke about feeling renewed energy and a deeper sense of purpose in their work.

Principal Makatu addressed the team: "Our learners deserve the very best from us, and we can only give our best when we support one another. Today reminded us that we're stronger together and that every person on this staff—from our cleaners to our senior teachers—plays a vital role in our children's success."

Looking Ahead

The positive energy from the team-building day is already evident in the staff room. Teachers are collaborating across grade levels, sharing resources more freely, and approaching challenges with renewed enthusiasm.

Plans are already underway to make staff team building a regular feature of the school calendar, with quarterly activities designed to maintain the spirit of collaboration and mutual support.

Building a Better School Community

When staff members feel valued, supported, and connected, that positive atmosphere extends to every interaction with learners and parents. The investment in team building is ultimately an investment in the quality of education we provide.

Our staff team is the heart of Ormonde Primary School, and days like these ensure that heart continues to beat strong.
